Connecting schools, teachers and students across the Benedictine world.

A global educational family
Every Benedictine school is rooted in its own place. But no Benedictine school stands entirely alone. Each belongs to a wider tradition of prayer, work, hospitality, service and learning that reaches across countries and continents.
The Foundation supports projects that strengthen those relationships: school exchanges, teacher networks, international conferences and shared formation.
A school exchange between England and Chile
One of the Foundation’s medium-term aims has been to support an Anglo-Chilean school exchange between Lower Sixth Formers at St Benedict’s Catholic School, Bury St Edmunds, and students at Colegio San Lorenzo in Santiago, Chile.
The Foundation awarded grants to help begin that process by enabling staff at San Lorenzo to visit Bury St Edmunds, meet staff and pupils, and build the relationships needed for future exchange.
The Foundation awarded a grant to support that work.
Supporting Benedictine educators
The International Commission on Benedictine Education holds a triennial conference of the Benedictine Educators Network, known as BenET. The gathering brings together teachers from Benedictine schools to share knowledge, practice and understanding.
The Foundation has supported attendance by a delegate from the developing world. When teachers meet, learn and return to their schools better equipped, the benefit reaches far beyond one conference place.
Why the network matters
A Benedictine school is part of a living tradition.
The Foundation helps that tradition travel between schools, between countries, between generations, and between monastic and lay communities.
As more Benedictine schools are led by lay staff, this work matters even more. Supporting the network helps schools remain connected to the values that formed them.
